Jailhouse Jazz

Our popular monthly Jazz club, showcasing a wide variety of different Jazz musicians and styles, from our talented local musicians to well known stars of the Jazz scene.  Join us for a relaxed evening of good music and good vibes on the 4th Thursday of each month. (Please note that due to Christmas arrangements, December's Jazz club will be on Wednesday 13th.

For our last Jazz of 2017, we are thrilled to be hosting Bobby Worth on drums and Imogen Ryall as our vocalist, plus our top local musicians for a spectacular one off special Jazz Jam.

The line up:

Imogen Ryall (vocals)
Bobby Worth (drums)
John Blackwell (guitar)
Vicki Wilson (piano)
Pete McGovern (trumpet)
Jim Bernardin (vibes)
With our own housemates Mike Comber (bass), Mike Carey (piano)

This should be a very special night with a range of sounds and talents coming together for a one off Jazz Jam. Imogen Ryall's singing talent is a real treat, combinging seemingly flawless pitch with honied tones and emotion, she "somehow manages to combine an apparently effortless precision with a warm, inviting sound, drawing the listener in to her beguiling world", LondonJazzNews. Imogen has written lyrics to several existing instrumental tunes, and she has toured Europe and the Middle East with her sound, as well as playing at Ronnie Scott's, London's Jazz Cafe and the 606 Club.

Both Bobby Worth and Imogen started out in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. Bobby was the ensemble's first drummer back in 1966 and has since gone on to back Pete King, Jim Mullen, Simon Spillett, Derek Nash and many of the other big names on the Jazz scene. This month is a really great opportunity to see a drummer with his experience and talent, plus a range of other highly talented Jazz musicians all up close, giving you a real flavour of Jazz musicianship.
