Shackleton's Carpenter at Bowhill Theatre

Shackleton’s Carpenter:
It’s 100 years since Shackleton’s voyage to the Antarctic on board the ill fated Endurance. After sixteen months stranded in appalling conditions all 26 lives on board were saved and Shackleton’s name is a byword for leadership and heroism. However, what about his carpenter Harry McNeish and the role he played in the survival? What happened behind the headlines is not only astonishing, but explores issues to do with status and the class system still relevant today. Performed by New Vic Productions in association with Eastbourne Theatre.
