Mary Poppins

Center Grove Fine Arts Academy proudly presents Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins. A musical based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney Film. Original Music and Lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. Book by Julian Fellows. New Songs and Additional Musical and Lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. Co-created by Cameron Mackintosh .

Live, local theater produced and presented by Center Grove Fine Arts Academy, returns on a magical umbrella when audiences are invited to meet a very proper - and musical - nanny as 'Mary Poppins' floats down to Indianapolis April 27-May 6, 2018.

The live production of the beloved Disney musical adaptation of P.L. Traver's character will bring local performers to the T.C. Howe High School stage as such classic characters as Bert the Chimney Sweep, and, of course, Mary Poppins herself.

Mary Poppins is the practically perfect nanny who helps us learn to take our medicine with a spoonful of sugar, find the silver lining in every situation, and realize that sometimes we should just use the winds of change to go fly a kite. Mary brings order to the Banks household, takes Jane and Michael out on magical adventures, and dispenses sage advice, such as, "anything can happen if you let it.”

Mary Poppins is full of fantasy and magic, and yes, Mary will fly! There will be huge dance numbers in this show.  

The Center Grove Fine Arts Academy (CGFAA) will produce this production with over 150 students ages 8 through 19 participating in a double cast production of Mary Poppins. Students travel from far and wide to participate in CGFAA’s productions, including Greenfield, Indianapolis, Avon, Fishers, Martinsville, Mooresville, and Greenwood.  

The score features your favorite Poppins tunes including "A Spoonful of Sugar," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," "Jolly Holiday," "Let's Go Fly a Kite," "Step in Time," and "Chim Chiminey."
