We're thrilled that you're booking tickets for The Tempest at Stepney City Farm! Here's some useful info about the evening.

Where is it?

Stepney City Farm is approx 5 mins walk from Stepney Green Tube Station or Limehouse DLR station. Parking is available in the roads around the farm. Bikes may be bought into the site and secured on the rack to the left of the entrance but Crow Tree Theatre Company and Stepney City Farm cannot take responsibility for audience members' belongings. The Farm entrance is on Stepney Way

What time?

Gates open at 6.15pm with bar/food to purchase. It's in the guise of wedding celebrations for the marriage of Claribel of Naples to the King of Tunis. A menu will be added to this page shortly. The promenade performance starts at 7pm and lasts approximately 80 minutes (look out for updates on running time on this page). After an end of evening drink at the bar, we will close the site at 9.30pm.

What is it like to promenade?

The actors will lead you from one location in the secret space to another, covering the site. In some places, there are benches, in others grassy areas to sit and stand. We suggest that you bring as little as possible-please don't leave anything as you travel around the site. However the following items are a must:

- shoes for walking on uneven terrain, up slopes and on grass (may be soggy/slippy if wet)

- attire for an evening walk on the farm

- wet weather clothing if the forecast is uncertain

- a torch per audience member

- a fold up, light weight garden chair /cushion if standing for too long/sitting on grass does not appeal

Crow Tree Theatre and Stepney City Farm are not responsible for audience members but take every care in providing a sensible route in this natural environment.

What happens if it rains?

In the event of a light shower, we carry on, moving to the shelter of the Barn if necessary. If there is an actual tempest, we don't give up either! Our wet weather plan is to move to a nearby indoor ground level venue with two exits. It'll be cosy-like listening to a story under canvas while the storm plays the guy ropes. Hence, we sell a limited number of tickets for each performance. This means that you don't have to worry about your view at each location either.

What happens at the end of the play?

The play ends back at the cafe/bar to celebrate the marriage of Ferdinand of Naples to Miranda of Milan. It's just one party after another.

Toilets?

There are toilets, including fully accessible, in the Rural Arts Centre on site.

Access requirements

Please email us as soon as possible to talk through mobility or additional needs.

Is the play suitable for children?

Absolutely! Parents need to stay with children during the promenade and it is essential that all audience members to keep with the group. The sounds of the site are foregrounded in the play, through live music and recorded sound. If you feel that there's a moment where your child is hampering other audience members enjoyment of the audio, please just step to the side. It's a relaxed setting which accommodates these needs.

Can I bring my dog?

Sadly No. Stepney is a working farm with real livestock which could be worried by unfamiliar animals.

Neighbours

Finally, please leave the site with respect for the neighbourhood.
