A circular walk from Crickhowell up to and around the escarpment of Mynydd Llangatwg and back to the Usk Valley.  A steady climb from the River Usk, mainly over open fields up towards the Lonely Shepherd rock and onto the wild limestone escarpment. We return via an old quarry and drop back down to the Mon and Brec Canal and Crickhowell.  Great views of the Black Mountains throughout, and a fine window on the industrial hotbed that was Llangattock Hillside in the first half of the 19th century.
