Walk 54 Mynydd Llangatwg - a walk on the wild side

Date: Thursday 12th March
Meeting Point: CRiC
Times: 9.30am to 4pm
Distance: 12 miles
Ascent: 1400ft
Leader: David Moseley
Price: £8.50

The highlight of this walk is the largely unexplored top of Mynydd Llangatwg with panoramic views of the Usk Valley below and the Black Mountains to the north.
Starting at CRIC, we cross the canal to join the Usk Valley Walk heading west, before climbing up to the escarpment.  We then head broadly east. There are no footpaths on the plateau and we will be “off piste” for about 3 miles with sometimes challenging conditions underfoot.  You are unlikely to see any other walkers up here.  Eventually we leave the plateau to drop down the escarpment to return to Crickhowell via Llangattock village.
