We start with a steady ascent to Offas Dyke path and to the trig point following this southerly path to the iron age hill fort with commanding views of the Olchon Valley. The way then descends to Llanvihangel Crucorney where we have lunch at the church. Our afternoon commences across fields with gates and stiles to the foot of Ysgyryd Fawr and then a steady ascent to the summit. The descent to the car park provides views of the Usk Valley and Black Mountains.

Directions to Start
Take the A40 to Abergavenny. At the first roundabout take the third exit (not Town Centre) and at the next roundabout take the second exit, over the river bridge and then at the Waitrose roundabout take the third exit onto Heads of the Valleys road, A465. At the major junction take the road to Hereford, A465. After 1¾ mile take the right hand turn at a short length of dual carriageway, signposted Skenfrith. The car park is on your left after 1½ miles.
