Times: 9:30am to 4pm
Distance:  8.5 miles
Ascent: 1600ft

Price: £8.50

From the Swansea Valley we will explore the deeply cut Cwm Haffes.  The initial stretch is rocky and will involve traversing gorse thickets and two stream crossings. A reasonable degree of surefootedness is needed for the crossings as the rocks tend to be slippery! The upper valley has interesting rock slab sections and there is a fine waterfall at the top. We will need to traverse some very wet ground (good boots needed) as we then cross the open hillside to get to the escarpment of the Fans. We will follow the ridge up to Fan Brecheiniog before retracing a little and dropping down to Llyn y Fan Fawr and a lower route along the foot of the Fans, back to the start point. Time to relax with a drink at the pub!
