The Lucky Durhams

Presented by Youth Connection Theatre Company.

This talented company, who have performed in Europe and London's professional theatres, makes their Durham Fringe debut with an emotive, hard-hitting play in remembrance of the Battle of the Somme, depicting the horrors experienced by three young Durham Light Infantry Soldiers and the mental impact on their lives. The play features fictitious characters against the historically accurate setting of the first day of the Battle of the Somme and follows three soldiers from the Durham Pals Regiment preparing for the big push. Extensive research of the Durham Light Infantry and local events has shaped the script, which incorporates multi-media projections, sound effects, and music to convey the emotions associated with life in the trenches, on the battlefields of 1916.
