Resonance: Best of British – A Musical Stay-cation

Resonance presents music by pillars of the English music establishment alongside others who were considered outsiders. The lives and music of all those featured add richness to the tales told in the tapestry of 20th Century British Chamber Music.
We have curated a recital of chamber works by familiar friends such as Frank Bridge, Gerald Finzi and Vaughan Williams, with pieces by other Stanford students from the Royal College of Music Rebecca Clarke and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, as well as an epic programmatic offering by self-taught Felix Harold White. Harking back to a musical tradition heavily inspired by folk music, the whole programme paints vivid pictures in the imagination, and sheds some light on those often over-looked in the English Music canon.
