Poetry of Secrets Workshop with Seán Hewitt (North Cornwall Book Festival 2024)

Poetry of Secrets Workshop with Seán Hewitt (North Cornwall Book Festival 2024)
Stone Barn
Saturday 28 September, 2.30pm - 5.30pm
£30

Every poem has a secret. Something underneath the language, something we deliberately bury, or some truth that only emerges when we write. But how do we make poems that contain secrets? How do we add depth and complexity to our writing? And why should we bother?

In this workshop, Seàn Hewitt, superb poet and literature professor at Trinity College Dublin, will show how to make use of your secrets - writing, cutting, deleting and rearranging to make poems that are like intricate vessels for hidden things.

Seán Hewitt’s debut collection Tongues of Fire saw him shortlisted for The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award. He will be reading from his new collection, Rapture’s Road on the Saturday morning at this year’s festival.
