ABOUT THE VENUE:

Castle Horneck is a beautiful Georgian Manor House, with original ceilings and ornate stairway, former home to the famous Borlase family. 

It is believed that there may have been an Iron Age settlement on the site, followed by a medieval castle, Elizabethan manor and eventually the present day Georgian House. 

The whole house, as it exists today, is a complete mismatch of varying periods of history but still maintains a certain grandeur and has recently gone through an extensive reurbishment.

The building is currently used, in season, as a Youth Hostel but still keeps its original charm and elegance. 

PREVIOUS ACTIVITY

Paranormal activity is said to be widespread with many stories of ‘strange’ occurrences being reported – and for many years. We have been running ghost nights for ABOUT TEN YEARS  with at times some incredible results.This has included various sightings, sounds, feelings and incredible evidence.

ITINERARY

Below are the details of the night's activities and requirements. Please note you must book  in advance.

20.00-20.15 ARRIVALS– MEETING IN THE DOWNSTAIRS DINING ROOM (COME IN THROUGH FRONT ENTRANCE AND WAIT TO BE DIRECTED)
If you arrive earlier than 8pm, feel free to go to the bar on the right as you enter.
20.30 THE EVENING BEGINS- WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS. THIS IS FOLLOWED BY A TALK ABOUT THE EVENING AND HISTORY OF THE LOCATION.
Followed by A TOUR OF THE MANOR AND GROUNDS AREA (WEATHER PERMITTING!), FOCUSING ON HAUNTED LOCATIONS.

THE GHOST WATCH- TIME SPENT IN EACH OF THE HAUNTED LOCATIONS with assistance from our team, using a variety of investigation techniques.
This can include study sessions inside and outside (weather permitting);
discussions; dowsing; darkness study sessions; ghost vigils, equipment use and
other possibilities depending on time and group preference.

1.00am END OF NIGHTS EVENTS (please leave safely and quietly)

REFRESHMENTS: Tea and coffee will be available throughout the evening and the bar will be open until approximately 11.00pm

On approaching Penzance, follow the A30, signposted: Newlyn (Lands End). The
Manor is signposted Castle Horneck and YHA between the “Heamoor” and “Mount
Misery” (Alverton) roundabouts. Turn right from the A30 into Castle Horneck
Lane, which leads to the manor, signposted "YHA". 

PARKING:
Ample free car parking is available to the left of the manor house.
