The Vicar of Dibley

The Vicar of Dibley based on the original TV series by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archers; Adapted for Irchester Players by Dan Wainwright with permission of Tiger Aspects.

No, no, no, no, no yes!We are taking on the hit TV show, the Vicar of Dibley and making it our own! To celebrate 40 years of drama at Irchester Players we will stage our very own production of this hit British comedy show in May 2017.

With the kind permission of Tiger Aspects, Irchester Players’ writer Dan Wainwright has adapted the original scripts, published by Penguin, to provide us with a show that you will not see anywhere else.

The play takes place over a year in Dibley with the year being split into the four seasons – we start with autumn and the arrival of a new vicar. We then move on to winter where you will see us recreate those famous Christmas dinners! “Meat and six veg Vicar, it’s the Dibley way.” Next, comes spring where a few white rabbits will make an appearance in some Easter madness. Finally, the show will conclude with a summer wedding between the show lovebirds Alice and Hugo.

To give an extra element, a choir has been written into the show, which will provide accompanying music at key moments, like “ The Lord is my Shepherd” as the show opens and closes – just like the TV show and “When two become one” by the Spice Girls!

Don’t miss out on this restaging of a British comedy classic by one of Northamptonshire’s best comedic amateur dramatic groups.
