12B YOUNG ARTIST Sirius Chau (12B)

Friday 12 July | 12.00

Hong Kong born flautist Sirius Chau studied at the Royal College of Music, supported by a Leverhulme Arts Scholarship.  In 2018, he was selected for the Tillett Trust’s Young Artists Platform and was also the winner of the Royal College’s prestigious Concerto Competition and Solo Woodwind Competition. His programme includes Poulenc’s Flute Sonata and works by Fauré, Dutilleux and Chaminade.  Alongside these are a work by featured composer, Jonathan Dove's The Magic Flute Dances, which imagines what might have happened to Mozart’s eponymous Flute, once the opera had ended. Sirius is joined for this recital by pianist Kumi Matsuo.
