Gender Roles

A night of live music with support from Nerve Endings & Laissez Faire.

Brighton’s Gender Roles ended a stellar 2018 by signing with the famed music label Big Scary Monster and releasing their most ambitious music so far. The band met at Hackney Pride in 2017, before winding up at a mate’s house and getting locked in. The resulting kinship fused the band together and the rest they say, is history. The three-piece, indie punk outfit currently reside in Brighton, making fuzzy, hard-hitting, tracks, self-described as “hazy ear sounds for your mates”. They have released two EPs, including the well-received ‘Laser Rush’ last year, which took them on an Academy tour with Jamie Lenman, before going out across Europe in spring of this year.

Alt-Rock 3-piece Nerve Endings have recently burst on to the South West music scene with a mixture of dirty blues rock derived riffs and energetic anthemic tunes that echo early Biffy Clyro, Reuben and other such rock luminaries of British contemporary music. The Wiltshire based trio have recently had the pleasure of joining Sean McGowan, Brand New Friend and St Pierre Snake Invasion for dates at the renowned Level III venue in Swindon as well as a stunning debut at VicFest, whilst teaming up with a litany of local acts such as Middlenamekill, All Ears Avow and The Harlers to really hammer home their arrival on the scene. Currently recording their first studio release, Nerve Endings have a momentum and hunger that shows in every performance and continue to draw in audiences at every stop along the way.

Laissez Faire are made up of two cousins and their drummer friend, who take their influences from icons of the garage indie scene such as The Strokes and The Libertines, whose lo-fi sound helped revolutionise the way the boys thought about music production and performance. Laissez Faire have supported many up and coming bands such as Indoor Pets, Sheafs, Redfaces and Jordan Allen and they were also shortlisted for Truck Festival and Y Not Festival. They've recently begun a promising relationship with the recording studio and publishers Puzzlemaker Studios who published their single ‘21’ and their upcoming single ‘Take Your Time’ releasing 21st June.
