The Importance of Making Mistakes
Forgetting about a session, getting the time wrong or mixing up one client with another might be seen as antithesis to the goal of supporting your client and yet even experienced counsellors and psychotherapists make mistakes on occasion.
Rather than thinking about mistakes as negative anddetrimental to client work, this day will takea different perspective on mistakes in therapy. We will think about the benefits they can have and how they can even aid in the therapeutic process.
We will explore the mistakes we have made, look at the research and discuss how we can work with our errors to support our clients to work through the difficulties they bring to therapy.
This session will be led by Jamie de Carvalho, Network's Clinical Lead. He is a psychotherapist and supervisor in practice for 12 years and has made and learned from plenty of mistakes over that time.
