History/Back Story
It’s 1920… The Shelby’s have muscled in on the South Coast Gambling rackets and if anyone is known for 'honest' horse races, it’s Mr Shelby. An off-course betting ring has been set up in the upstairs room of a local ale house in the seaside resort of Brighton.
 
There’s an air of tension and excitement.
The bookies will be shouting the odds, the runners will collect the bets and the lookouts stationed at the end of the street will warn about uninvited guests. We don’t want to attract unnecessary attention from other gangs or the local Bobbies.
 
While the boss attends to business matters upstairs, the running of the bookkeepers is in the capable hands of his fellow gang member Harry.
However, the profits have not been as high recently and there’s a strong suspicion that someone is creaming off the bets. When you therefore join our betting ring or ‘our meeting’ as we like to call it, we will require a degree of assistance from you. We ask you to stay vigilant and do whatever we require of you, no matter what it takes, no questions asked.
