On Saturday, July 15th, Ginai performs “Jazz Island”, an intimate and entertaining evening of jazz, soul, and pop. In addition to her own award-winning and nationally-acclaimed CDs, her background vocal work can be heard on Brother Iz’s “Country Roads” and “Hawaiian Superman”. Live on-stage, Ginai was a regular at the Blue Note Hawaii in Waikiki performing tribute shows to such stars as Natalie Cole, Sade, and Anita Baker. She has been a guest performer with the Honolulu and Long Beach Symphonies and has been the opening act for artists such as Ray Charles, Lou Rawls, Bruce Hornsby, and Diana Krall to name a few. Her work includes stints with the swing band Hula Joe and The Hut Jumpers, the gypsy jazz group Hot Club of Hulaville, and touring internationally with Legends in Concert as Whitney Houston.

Ginai has earned her place among and worked with Hawaii’s most accomplished performers like Willie K, Henry Kapono, and Matt Catingub. Ginai (known as Genai in Japan and UK) is an international recording artist with not only 10-plus CD releases to her name, but an impressive studio singer resume. Go to Ginai.com for more! Her outstanding onstage resume of 25-plus shows in two years at world renown Blue Note Hawaii in Waikiki has kept her relevant and speaks volumes of her production abilities.

Outside of singing Jazz and R&B locally, her work includes: A guest spot with Mardi Gras Madness with the Long Beach Symphony, Feb 2020....a lead role twice with the broadway musical “Dreamgirls” ....a recent role as Classe’ in the 2020 film release, “Tales of the Circle Keys”....tribute shows to Natalie Cole, Sade, and Anita Baker.....a world traveled Whitney Houston impersonator with Legends in Concert and Rock-A-Hula.....featured performer for Toys for Tots at Hawaii Theater...and most recently, a Champion Performer for Best Buddies. Her background vocal work includes on Brother IZ “Country Roads” and ”Hawaiian Superman”. She has recorded at the world famous Capitol Records and Abbey Road, home of the Beatles. Her desire to give back to the community that showed her so much love is why she is often at events like Best Buddies, Make Em Smile, and Na Mele O Na Keiki.

Ginai’s “Jazz Island” is a show based on her 2006 CD release and original song that launched a TV show by the same name. The show and the club it was filmed in is long gone. But Ginai is still here willing to tell a story of who she is musically and where her influences are from.

Overall, Ginai’s Jazz Island will bring together all of her music in one intimate and entertaining show! Featuring Marcus Johnson on bass, Paul Marchetti on drums, Jeff Hellmer on piano, and John Zangrando on Sax.
