With a Yorkshire burr, and heartfelt songs, Adam Guest is a singer-songwriter who is a regular of the isles’ music scene.
Clocking up festival appearances in Shetland, Yorkshire and Celtic Connections, his songs pull in folk and blues influences, as well as writing about his native home of Barnsley.
He’s received national airplay on BBC Radio Scotland - including The Roddy Hart Show and Iain Anderson show - and has supported a host of top folk musicians, singer-songwriters and bands including Admiral Fallow, Kris Drever, Courtney Marie Andrews, and Declan O’Rourke.
His debut EP Open The Book, was recorded with LAU sound engineer Tim Matthew and a string of musical pals since move moving to Shetland in 2013. “Open The Book speaks like a travelogue of his journey to Shetland and his time within the isles. It is frank and honest writing (all original and self-penned material) with understated arrangements, all crafted beautifully together and another example of the songwriting talent we have on our doorstep.” - The Shetland Times
In 2019 he joined forces with Kirsten Hendry (fiddle and vocals), David Sjoberg (fiddle and vocals) and Mark Smith (drums).
The four-piece released a live EP from the 2019 Shetland folk festival capturing a special night at Mareel- "The six tracks evoke a classy feel, with melancholic folk rooted in storytelling which feels modern while simultaneously cap-doffing to bygone decades” – Shetland News
The band were joined by Jonathon Bulter on guitar in 2022 and hope to release their debut album later this year.
