Filmfest'22 | Acting for Screen, Christine Parker

Christine is a screenwriter and director and also teaches film making. She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Derby where she is Programme Leader of the MA Writing for Performance and teach into the MA Film and Photography, BA (Hons)Film Production, and BA (Hons) Theatre Arts.

Christine has supervised many hundreds of short films from script to production in both the UK and in New Zealand since she began teaching the form in 2001. A short film she developed and supervised, won a British Royal Television Society award for Best Student Drama (November 2015) and her films have been nominated for 14 awards winning on several occasions.

In the last few years, she has also developed an interest in film art as a counterbalance to her narrative work. Quickening, a digital installation she made with colleagues Stephen Watson and Dr Jane Fletcher, was exhibited at The Sichuan Institute of Fine Art in China in an exhibition curated by internationally renowned digital artist John Goto with the support of the British Council and the University of Derby.

Join Christine in this practical demonstration of her skills as she sheds light on the unique relationship between a director and their talent. This workshop is certain to be a memorable event for directors, actors, producers, or those merely curious to understand how great performances are brought to the big screen.
