Jazz and Beer - Malcolm Earle Smith and Friends

Malcolm Earle Smith is a versatile  jazz trombonist and vocalist, not only widely respected in classic jazz and swing styles but also in bop and  contemporary idioms. He has performed  with artists as wide ranging as Nat Gonella,  John Dankworth,   Henry Lowther,   and Liam Noble.  He has also toured extensively  with Bryan Ferry and is featured on two of his albums  ‘As Time Goes By’ and ‘The Jazz Age’.

This show will feature Malcolm as vocalist, with his trombone playing a supporting role. Influenced by Chet Baker, Eddie Jefferson,  Anita O’Day and Tony Bennett,  his   style combines a love for interpreting  the American songbook  with an exciting approach to  improvisation.  Joining him will be   Chris Eldred (piano),  Conor Chaplin (bass) and Douglas Marriner  (drums). The  group will play swinging selections from Malcolm’s forthcoming  album, to be released this coming Autumn.
