Wendy Cope - One Wedding and a Funeral

A fresh and entertaining poetry reading from the quiet phenomenon who has proved quality can be popular!

Wendy’s newest collection, “Family values”, contains many poems about her childhood - with titles such as: ‘You’re Not Allowed’, ‘Probably’, ‘The Party Isn’t Over Yet’, ‘Your Mother Knows’. These new poems will be read alongside a selection of favourites from her previous bestselling collection ‘Two Cures for Love’.
This event will also contain readings from her new prose collection, ‘Life, Love, and the Archers’, which is proving very popular.
In an ambience akin to a cosy fireside reading, Wendy charms and amuses her audience with her wry, ironic poetry. At times sharp and punchy, at times soft and contemplative, Wendy moves through her work connecting with her audience with ease and carefully crafting a well rounded and poised set. And beside the irony there’s plenty of life celebration too.
With the background to each creation explained and the technical difficulties deftly touched on, her readings bring both great enjoyment and inspiration to her audiences.
Wendy reads two sets (either side of an interval), with a question and answer session to round off the event, followed by her ever popular after show book signing.
