The Cherry Orchard

The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov in a version by Simon Stephens

In a new version by Olivier Award winning playwright Simon Stephens breathes vigorous new life into Chekhov’s 1904 masterpiece.  The volatile and charismatic Liubov Ranyevskia returns from Paris to her Russian Estate to face colossal debts.  Lopakhin, a local landowner and former peasant, proposes a plan to make the estate profitable.  This involves destroying the family’s vast and beautiful Cherry Orchard, an expanse of unproductive but exquisite land that has been in the family for centuries.
