Hand-building Pottery Lessons

Sally Mareike's hand-building courses are suitable for beginners and people who would like to refresh their skills. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to allow your natural (perhaps hidden) creativity to flow! Sally is an experienced hand-building potter and teacher of adults and children. (DBS checked)

ABOUT
Sally will demonstrate the hand-building techniques of coiling and slab building, incorporating decorative techniques such as incising; impressing and applying motifs or sprigs, slip and oxide painting.

Using what you’ve learned, you will then be gently guided and supervised to create your own beautiful pots. You can expect to have a lot of fun, feel very calm when connecting with the clay, and you may even forget any worries for a while! You might make pieces such as vessels, bowls, pictures, plaques, mugs, vases, candle holders, or small sculptures.

After your pieces have been bisque fired by Sally, you will learn how to decorate them using oxide painting, wax resist, and glazes. Sally has a good selection of glaze colours and textures to choose from.

PLEASE NOTE:

Max 5 students so help is available when needed.
