Gerald Dickens - The Signalman & Doctor Marigold

We are delighted to welcome back Gerald Dickens, great, great grandson of Charles Dickens to Sharnbrook Mill Theatre following his previous triumphant performances of A Christmas Carol and Great Expectations.

The first part of the evening will tell the chilling story of a lonely Signalman set in a dismal railway. The signal box, the tunnel, even the telegraph wires seem to haunt him at every turn and Gerald’s performance reflects the brooding, Gothic nature of the tale. The second part is a depiction of one of Charles Dickens’ most popular readings: Doctor Marigold. A market ‘cheap jack’, this trader, with his rapid sales-patter, tells a story both moving and heartbreaking. We follow the relationship of Marigold and his beloved adopted orphan Sophy as he attempts to amend his past paternal hardships.

A professional actor, director and producer, Gerald has always been fascinated by the life and works of his ancestor and this has led him to write and direct many one-man shows.

There is a £1  booking fee per transaction.
