Soloist: Susanna Fairbairn (soprano)

The Gloria in D is the most popular of all Vivaldi’s choral music, notable for its festive brilliance, in which the text is divided into no less than twelve sections. Our four soloists will be led by Susanna Fairbairn, a soprano with wide experience in the worlds of opera and oratorio. She will also be singing Mozart’s joyful and youthful cantata Exsultate, jubilate with its famous setting of Alleluia as its final movement. We also welcome Alice Martin (soprano) from the National Youth Training Choir, Becky Howitt (soprano) from Oxford University, and Morgen Michel (counter tenor) from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Britten’s wonderful Ceremony of Carols originally written for treble voices, will here be sung in Britten’s own version for four part chorus, to be followed by Corelli’s orchestral Christmas Concerto with its final Pastorale giving a musical picture of the angels hovering over Bethlehem. The concert will also include carols for chorus, audience and orchestra.

Tickets £16,  £10 under 16s/students   All tickets include a free concert programme
