The Great Classics – Haydn, Mozart, Dvořák

From the drama of Haydn’s choral writing, and the precision and delights of Mozart’s chamber music, to the glorious romantic tunes of a Dvořák symphony, this concert illustrates why so many people love classical music.

Slough Philharmonic Orchestra’s Wind Principals will perform the solo parts in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon and orchestra. Delightfully written to show the characteristics of the instruments, the work concludes with a superb set of variations that get ever more complex.

Dvořák’s ever-popular Symphony No 8 is a wonderfully constructed work. The symphony combines a musical interpretation of the sounds of the countryside and deeply felt, glorious tunes.

Whether you are new to the world of classical music or a discerning regular concertgoer this is a concert for you, near you.

The short motet Insanae et Vanae Curae is one of Haydn’s most popular pieces for choir. Haydn’s work shows us two contrasting musical moods: one of fear and dread in a fast and dramatic section followed by a softer section that declares that all will be well with you if God is on your side.

Chorus Taster Day - The Slough Philharmonic Chorus will learning and performing this work in a day.   Join them learning this vivid work and a enjoy a musicianship for singers session focusing on reading rhythms; and vocal coaching focusing on breathing and support, and creating different vocal tones in performance.
