Music from Stage and Screen (22 May 2016)

The 1956 Broadway production of My Fair Lady was a momentous hit. Our selection from the show and the film will include '' I could have danced all night '' amongst many other memorable songs.

'' Climb ev'ry mountain '' is just one of Richard Rogers' famous songs from The Sound of Music, yet again a stage show and then a film.

The recent stage version of Mary Poppins followed forty years after the film, and our selection features many of its famous songs.

The orchestral version of '' Moon River'' is our tribute to Henry Mancini and the film Breakfast at Tiffany's,''  whilst A Tribute to John Williams  will include just some of the themes from his many film scores such as Jaws, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and the Harry Potter films.

From Howard Shore's music for the Lord of The Rings we have chosen selections from The Two Towers and The Return of The King. Amazingly he used over ninety short musical motifs to bind together the three films.

Lastly, we include two gems from that master of light music Leroy Anderson,  A Trumpeter's Lullaby, and Forgotten Dreams.
