A night of Vagaland

Join us for an evening of Vagaland poetry readings, music and reminiscences to celebrate the launch of Shetland Amenity Trust’s latest publication, ‘Love in Human Herts’,   a new selection of Vagaland’s work, containing thirty of his greatest poems.

Thomas Alexander Robertson, who wrote under the pen-name Vagaland, is one of Shetland’s best-loved poets. In both Shetland and English dialect, his poetry celebrates traditional ways of life that few people today have experienced.
Last published in book form in 1975, Robertson’s poetry has become increasingly unavailable.

Editors of the book Brian Smith, Laureen Johnson and Mark Smith and friends will give an overview of Vagaland’s life and recite some of their favourite poems.

After the event, there will be the opportunity to purchase the new title from our shop- why not do some late night Christmas shopping at the same time!
