Screen Memories is a monologue-based performance recounting Robin Deacon’s childhood recollections of watching public service broadcasting.
As a child of the 1980’s, Robin describes a landscape filled with images of Kajagoogoo on Top of the Pops, Falklands War news reports Alex Cox’s Moviedrome introductions and strangely disturbing public information films.
An exploration of what it is to be haunted by televisual imagery (both the seminal and the inconsequential), this performance may be understood as an undertaking in ‘signing off’ on such memories of watching and learning.
