Duo B!z'art : 20 Fingers on a Piano

For the opening event of our 2018 season we are delighted to welcome Duo B!z’art from Belgium.

Duo B!z’art was founded by André Roe and Geoffrey Baptiste in 2004.

Playing a digital piano with four hands, André and Geoffrey will use their 20 fingers and share 88 piano keys to perform an intimate and informal concert of piano duets.

Duo B!z’art concerts revolve around strong and original themes influenced by the players’ own musical tastes which range from romantic to 20th century music. André and Geoffrey comfortably combine classical hits and unknown masterpieces.  Sincerity, energy and love of music is their focus.

André and Geoffrey regularly make concert tours across Europe and played a series of well received performances in China in November 2017.

The programme comprises :
-Brahms, Hungarian Dances (excerpts)
-Fauré, Dolly
-Ravel, Ma Mère l’Oye
-Grieg, Norwegian Dances
-Bernstein, West Side Story

The performers enjoy meeting new audiences and attach particular importance to performing educational concerts, interactive musical entertainment, specially designed for children. During their visit to The Machars we are delighted that as well as appearing at The Swallow Theatre, Duo B!z’art will be performing two free concerts for local primary school children.

We gratefully acknowledge generous support from Dumfries and Galloway Arts Live in helping us to bring Duo B!z’art performances to The Swallow Theatre, and The Swallow Theatre Association, The Port William Community Shop and Enterprise Music Scotland for supporting the children's performances at the Port William and Whithorn Primary Schools.  We are still seeking the final funding to support the children's performances, so if you can help, we have a ticket for the evening concert at £15 which includes a £3 donation towards enabling our local schoolchildren to hear a fun, interactive introducion to piano music.
