Burlesque For Beginners with Lady Wildflower

Come and unleash your inner showgirl, with International Burlesque performer Lady Wildflower!  Feel sexy, glamorous and powerful as you discover the art of the tease!
 
In this 2 hour workshop, Lady Wildflower will teach you how to pose like a pin-up and how to strut your stuff with confidence.  Learn how to bump'n'grind like Bettie Page and be shown how to peel away your gloves with style and seduction…
 
Discover the tricks of the trade to truly tease your audience and leave them begging for more!
 
This fun and informative workshop is an introduction to Burlesque and is suitable for all who wish to explore their own femininity & sexuality in a fun, friendly, safe and non-judgmental environment.
 
- ALL ages (18+), abilities & body types welcome & encouraged.
- No previous dance experience necessary and those with 2 left feet are more than welcome!
- There is NO nudity involved in this workshop and you can wear whatever you feel good in.
 
PLEASE BRING/WEAR:
High heeled shoes that you can comfortably walk in (dance shoes are great if you have them)
Clothes that make you feel good, which you can comfortably move in (such as shorts/leggings/top/bra/tights) – please avoid corsets, tight pencil skirts or jeans as these restrict your movement.
Long gloves will be provided.

The Great Train Robbery

In the early hours of Thursday 8th August 1963, the heist of the century was under way. Whilst the world was tucked up in bed, 15 men put a finger up to the government and stole 2 million British pounds from Her Majesty’s Royal Mail train. Five days later the first clues were found, the gang was busted and the rest is history. But what about the ones that got away?

Join the four forgotten females as they leave behind their kitchen-sink lives and embark on a madcap adventure of mischief and mayhem. Using a raucous combinaiton of physical theatre, live music and clowning, Scratchworks will unfold the untold tale of the unlikely female four.

Charlie Barnes presents Troubadour Club - Jake Morley

Come one, come all and have your heartstrings pulled at Charlie Barnes' Troubadour Club.

The Lichfield native and Bastille touring musician will be showcasing some of the best songwriting talents from the world of indie, acoustic and alternative music. Featuring opening sets by Charlie himself, along with exclusive collaborations and duets, these special nights of nourishment for the soul are not to be missed.

Highly accomplished but hard to pin down, Jake Morley's innovative playing combines guitar, piano and drums into one instrument with seemingly impossible dexterity. His performances have a habit of staying with you long after they're heard.

The Ramshackles - Swing in to Summer

Get ready to be transported to the Honky-Tonks of 1920s New Orleans with The Swing Era's band ‘The Ramshackles’.

I Gotta A Right To Sing The Blues

I Gotta Right To Sing The Blues is a show about women’s lived experience as told through 100 years of the Blues.

August 10th, 1920, Mamie Smith walked into a recording studio in New York and made history by recording the first Blues song. 100 years on, women are still singing of their lived experience through The Blues. Weaving together song and spoken word, Jacqui Wicks examines the impact of early blues music on women hearing it for the first time, how do they connect to 100-year-old narratives…does it speak of their lived experience, who has the right to sing The Blues.

The Gypsy Jazz Quartet ** Rescheduled date**

Join the Gypsy Jazz Quartet as they celebrate the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.

Their music defined an era, Les annees folles, those crazy years of the interwar period and shaped what had previously been the exclusively American genre of Jazz. The Gypsy Jazz Quartet will feature guitarist James Girling and Lichfield based violinist, Darin Qualls together with Bim Williams on guitar and Gavin Barras on double bass

Everything I Didn't Say

On The Run Theatre presents a funny, highly physical one-woman show seeks to change perceptions of domestic abuse and what a victim can look like. 

We follow Meadow Rain as she tries to reconnect with her closest friend Miranda after leaving an abusive relationship. Through flashbacks, audience participation and movement, the show unpicks abuse that is non-violent, highlighting the manipulation, isolation and turmoil a victim may experience. The show also explores the effect of abuse on a victim’s wider community and the supportive role of friends and family.

Arowana Quartet

We are delighted to welcome back to St Mary’s violinist Dave Shaw with the Arowana Quartet.

The Arowana is a recently formed quartet that brings together four outstanding chamber musicians. They will perform one of Haydn’s masterworks, his String Quartet Op 76 No 2 (Quinten) and Mendelssohn’s moving String Quartet in F minor, written shortly before his own death as a requiem for his sister.

This special concert also will include the world premiere of a new string quartet commissioned by St Mary’s from Lithuanian composer, Kristupas Bubnelis.
