"When The Fog Rolls In" - NEW ALBUM TOUR

With the help of a Quebec Council of Arts Research and Development grant and a scholarship to the International Songwriter’s program at the Banff Centre of the Arts we were able to put the whole album together in a little over a year. The band recorded through the fall/ winter of the Pandemic 2020-21 with myself on keys and vocals, Tony Spina on drums, Alex Formosa on guitars and synths, Jordey Tucker on guitar, Lisa Iwanyki on vocals and James Hall on bass, Jace Lacek on guitar.  Recorded and produced by myself, Alex and Jace. Mastered by Philip Gosselin at Le Lab.  This new record is, in many ways, a continuation of the previous, “Spinning Wheel”. Further down the rabbit hole of psych synth layers, sub bass drones, hypnotic hip hop drums. Lyrical colouring from the macabre to blissful fantasy and styles stretching from narrative to stream of consciousness to absurdity.

All songs written by myself except The River Phoenix written by myself and Darren Moore who also played synths and sang on it.  Mark Rashotte on Pedal Steel and Theremin on Tunnel Mountain. Artwork and Layout by Waylon Tait. Album photography by Wren Bytheway Hoy and Ned Maloney.

Jeff Louch will appear in solo concert on piano, with Kris Tischbein on solo bass guitar.

ABOUT VICTORY CHIMES' NEW ALBUM:

"When the Fog Rolls In" dropped on Friday May 20th and we are very excited to share it with the world.   It began at a writing retreat at the Banff Centre of Arts. The songs written there were very much inspired by the vast mountain landscape and unique energy that exists there – being one of the oldest settlements in North America.  The writing retreat was cut short by the pandemic, but we continued to write and record in my studio. We found it convenient with all the openings, closures and quarantines to mail ideas and recordings back and forth between my studio and co-producer, Alex Formosa’s studio. It was a different way to write and record but created a unique sound of this record – you can hear some of that isolation and solitude in these tunes as well. Those pandemic themes are definitely in the album; there’s worry and paranoia but also humour and absurdity. There’s also the joy of having a child and getting to spend a lockdown with a beautiful new family. - Jeff Louch

ABOUT KRIS TISCHBEIN:

Kris Tischbein has written and performed music for the past 30 years and has released two solo albums, “The Weave” and “The String Theory “. Kris has worked and recorded with Michael Manring, Jerry Mercer (April Wine), Emm Gryner (David Bowie, solo) Adam Werner (award-winning fingerstyle guitarist), The Zone, Carl Dixon (The Guess Who, Coney Hatch), Jake Clemons ( Bruce Springsteen), Shawn "Deepwater" Dore, Kelly Valleau, Ian K and many others.

Kris is driven by his desire to make the bass a more refined instrument in groups and bridge the sound of the bass guitar into solo compositions, Kris had this to say about his partnering up with Raapt Custom Instruments:
"The instruments Randy (Twyman) is producing at Raapt Custom Instruments allows me to play any idea without hesitation, anything I can dream of to play or write a Raapt bass can handle."
Kris is actively recording solo bass instrumentals and The Zone will be releasing their music on streaming services and CD.
