Wild Writing - an outdoor writing masterclass with Natasha Carthew CANCELLED

Join acclaimed Outdoor Writer Natasha Carthew as she explores what it means to write in the wild, discussing inspiration/setting/characterisation/themes and symbolism in response to your surroundings using multi-sensory learning, whilst connecting to the natural environment around us. During this masterclass for all abilities, Natasha will explain the benefits of writing outside and how disconnecting from the wired world and being in nature can revitalise your work. This masterclass includes activities to stimulate observation and creativity whilst exploring nature around the Writers Block area, in order to produce a piece of creative writing inspired by our outdoor natural environment
Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a notepad and pens/pencils.
 
Natasha Carthew is a working class Writer and Performance Poet from Cornwall. She has written two books of poetry, three acclaimed Young Adult novels; ‘Winter Damage’, ‘The Light That Gets Lost’ and ‘Only the Ocean’ (published with Bloomsbury) and her latest Adult literary fiction ‘All Rivers Run Free’ Published by Quercus/riverrun. Her new prose-poem ‘Song for the Forgotten’ published with National Trust Books in 2020 and her latest short-story features in HAG: Forgotten Folk Tales published by Virago Press October 2020.
 
Her new book ‘Born Between Crosses’ a new sequence of Performance Poetry celebrating the working lives of Working Class Women publishes with The Hypatia Publications in April.
 
Natasha has written extensively on the subject of Wild Writing and rural Working-Class representation in literature for several publications and programmes, including Writers' & Artists' Yearbook, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, The Guardian, The Big Issue and the Dark Mountain Project. Natasha is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Working Class Writers Festival - in partnership with The Festival of Ideas and sponsored by Hachette UK and Penguin Random House, she is also Founder of the Nature Writing Prize for Working Class Writers.
