Writing Your Witchiness: A Workshop for Your Weird, Wild Poems with Shivanee Ramlochan

Monday 4 November 6-8pm
The Writers' Block, The Ladder, 2-4 Clinton Road, Redruth, TR15 2QE
Tickets: £20

Have you felt haunted by the ghosts of your spookiest drafts, daring to shriek the unspeakable? Do the deep desires of your poems-in-progress rattle the floorboards at night, longing to let themselves soar onto your pages? Join Shivanee Ramlochan as she helps you channel the witchiness within, drawing on Caribbean folklore, queer feminist readings of classic to contemprary verses, and immersive writing exercises made to raise even your most sepulchral lines. This spectral season, allow yourself the power of your own, infinitely spellbinding words.

Shivanee Ramlochan is a Trinidadian poet and essayist. Her first collection, Everyone Knows I Am a Haunting, was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. Recently, her poems have been anthologized in 100 Queer Poems (Faber); After Sylvia: Poems and Essays in Celebration of Sylvia Plath (Nine Arches Press); Across Borders: An Anthology of New Poetry from the Commonwealth (Verve Poetry Press); Bi+ Lines: An Anthology of Contemporary Bi+ Poems (fourteen poems).

Shivanee's second collection, Witch Hindu, is forthcoming in 2026.
