Writing The Sea with Wyl Menmuir

Are you drawn to the sea? Would you like to explore the stories you have to tell that are set on the shoreline, whether fiction or factual? Would you like to put your love of the ocean - whether as a gig rower or surfer, sea swimmer or shell collector, beach cleaner or beach comber - into words?

10-1pm 13th February 2025
The Writers' Block, The Ladder, Clinton Road, TR15 2QE
Tickets: £20

In this masterclass, you will be guided through a series of practical approaches for writing about your relationship with the sea. Led by the Booker-nominated author, Wyl Menmuir, whose bestselling book The Draw of The Sea won the Roger Deakin Award for nature writing, the masterclass will draw on both poetry and prose, and dig into your memories and experiences to help you to shape narratives to engage others.

Please bring with you:
- a photograph of a favourite coastline or beach, a place that is particularly special to you.
- an artefact of some sort, whether a shell or piece of driftwood, a piece of marine plastic or a vial of sand.
