Tower Players present the World Premiere of Gaskin : Behind the Yellow Doors
Telling a very dramatic human story of love and betrayal, the play is based on the true story of the life of Henry Thomas Gaskin, a collier and soldier in the First World War who, in 1919, was hanged for the brutal murder of his wife Lizzie in what is now locally known as Gaskin’s Wood, Hednesford.
Not only does the play tell a very dramatic human story of love and betrayal but also reminds us of the horrors of trench warfare in World War One. As the story unfolds, it traces events in Gaskin’s life, which may have contributed to his state of mind when he committed the murder, a crime so sensationally gruesome that it caught national press attention at the time.
Due to the themes explored in this play it is not suitable for those under the age of 16.
