Sarah Perry, author of The Essex Serpent, the Waterstones Book of the Year 2016 and shortlisted for the Costa Best Novel Award 2016, will be divulging her authorial secrets at the popular Wells Festival of Literature Book Group event.

The Essex Serpent palpitates tension – the intense relationship between Cora and Will, the clash of Christian faith and atheism, the mythical beast which appears to claim human life, the thrumming streets of London, and eeriness of the Essex marshes. Perry, who has a PhD in creative writing, will answer questions from the book club audience, and join in the general discussion, on this highly acclaimed and successful book.
