Sydney ambient/melodic post-rockers
SLEEPMAKESWAVES have announced their second album ‘
Love of Cartography’ will be released July 4, 2014.
The band will launch the album with a headline tour of Australia in July & August, playing their biggest shows to date.
The first taste of the record was recently premiered on triple j in the form of a driving electronic-rock epic called ‘
Something Like Avalanches.’ The first official single from the album will be announced in June.
With a series of unforgettable and thundering sequences ‘Love of Cartography’ presents the band’s continued desire to map new creative directions within an instrumental rock framework.
Recorded in Byron Bay at Studio 301 with producer Nick DiDia (Karnivool, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Powderfinger, Rage Against The Machine), the album was supported by a Pozible pre-order campaign, through which the band raised over $30,000 from fans.
The instrumental post-rock/prog quartet have had an amazing run since the release of their debut album “…and so we destroyed everything.” Over the past 3 years, their busy schedule has included 8 Australian tours, 3 European tours, touring the USA and playing SXSW, supports for 65daysofstatic and Karnivool – and an unprecedented nomination for an ARIA Award in 2012.
Having just finished a 20-date tour of the UK & Europe, sleepmakeswaves will head out on the road in July & August, accompanied by Sydney prog-rock heavyweights
Breaking Orbit, who themselves will release new music in 2014, following their acclaimed 2012 debut ‘The Time Traveller.’ Opening the shows along the east coast will be indie-alternative rock group
Teal, whose debut EP ‘Hearth’ has picked up airplay on triple j and FBi radio.
‘Love of Cartography’ is out July 4th through Bird’s Robe Records/MGM
