“The Vanns have good poppy tunes soaked into their skin” Triple J
Born in a Kiama garage and influenced by the old school blues and that new genre they call “indie”, The Vanns started a band.
And things seemed to have worked out pretty well for the four piece so far.
They took out 1st place in the Red Bull Bedroom Jam, which scored them a spot on the 2012 Homebake lineup and more recently, they were chosen as “Breakthrough New Artist” for Vivid’s Ideas Sessions.
Their songs have received airplay on FBi and triple j, with rotation on the Unearthed station.
The last 2 years have seen The Vanns play with Kingswood, Tim Rogers, The Getaway Plan, Jinja Safari, The Bamboos and Sticky Fingers.
The Vanns will release their new single titled “Belmore Street” on 20th November. ——————————————————
“Do yourself a favour and acquaint yourself with The Familiars, who are sure to do amazing things in the Australian Indie scene” Tone Deaf
Currently based in Byron Bay, The Familiars make full-blooded, guitar driven indie rock.
It’s been almost two years since the band wandered into a small venue in Brisbane to play their first show. Since then, they’ve played with cool people like The Basics, Kingswood, City Riots and Sticky Fingers, had their tracks on rotation with FBi and Triple J Unearthed, released an EP through MGM and toured the east coast 3 times.
The Familiars released their new single “Let You Down” on 15th November.
