The Shirt Tail Stompers

Jazz for Little'uns is for those aged 2 to 5 years (with some flexibility).  The session introduces the fun of jazz music for little'uns to enjoy, listen to and join in.  Please note - all little'uns must be accompanied by an adult.

No stranger to Black Mountain Jazz Club, Sicknote Steve recreates the authentic sound of the original hobo bluesman.  Expect a great session of raw blues and  bluegrass.

wall2wall Jazz Festival - Festival Dinner featuring Ian Shaw

Thursday 29th August: 7pm for 7.30pm

The traditional festival dinner is again at Abergavenny's splendid Angel Hotel.  The entertainment this year will be provided by the widely acclaimed Ian Shaw, who was named Best Jazz Vocalist in last year's Parliamentary Jazz Awards.

John Law on piano, with Josh Schofield (sax), James Agg (double bass) and Billy Weir (drums).  As well as jazz classics, the Quartet repertoire includes tunes from pop, rock, indie - with classical pieces also appearing.

wall2wall Jazz Festival - Film: Born To Be Blue

Saturday 31st August 2019: 2.15pm

The wall2wall Jazz Festival ventures for the first time into the cinema world, with a joint venture with the Abergavenny Film Society.  Born To Be Blue stars Ethan Hawke as the troubled jazz trumpeter Chet Baker, shown making a tempestuous career comeback in the 1960s.

Please note - this film is 'Certificate 15'.

Alex Goodyear, a freelance drummer and percussionist studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, has assembled a highly talented Hard Bop Septet of young jazz musicians.

wall2wall Jazz Festival - CHUBE featuring Dennis Rollins

Chube, the young jazz fusion band based in Cardiff, was set up by Ben Creighton Griffiths (Harp, Keys) and Matthew Williams (Drums, Engineering) in 2015. For this performance they are joined by the widely acclaimed trombonist Dennis Rollins.

wall2wall Jazz Festival - Sarah Gillespie Sextet

Singer songwriter Sarah Gillespie has worked with some of the hottest jazz musicians on the UK scene. This performance marks the launch in Wales of her new album 'Wishbones’, which has received outstanding accolades from the UK press.

Victoria Klewin sings Blossom Dearie

Victoria will feature the Blossom Dearie songbook, as well as tunes by Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, Dave Frishberg and others.  She will bring to life the sophistication and vocal sound of the hugely popular Blossom Dearie.

Radio Banska - Rescheduled

Sunday 27th October 2019: 8pm

Radio Banska appeared at our 2015 wall2wall Jazz Festival and have long been our list of re-invites.  Sadly now without Nina Trott, they play an exciting jazz infused blend of Levantine mystery, Balkan passion and Latin rhythms.
