Sotavento Big Band

The Sotavento Big Band is a Jazz and Tango orchestra formed in Buenos Aires 13 years ago.  It started as a simple ensemble of students and has become the most active orchestra of the jazz scene in Buenos Aires.

Festival Dinner With The Moscow Drug Club

Last year the festival dinner was a huge sold-out success and again we will be at the Angel Hotel, with music supplied by Moscow Drug Club.

The meal is two courses, with a choice of three mains - we will contact those coming before the event to get their meal preferences.

1917 & All That Jazz

Black Mountain Jazz Club are excited to present 1917 - an evening dedicated to the celebration of all things Jazz.

Musically and historically, 1917 was an extraordinary year, when the first jazz recording was made and released.  Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie and Thelonious Monk were born and the 20th Century journey through the iconic story of Jazz and it’s influences began to be charted.

Presented over two sets (with a ‘jazz in the bar’ break in between), we have hand-crafted our own stellar band, where each performer will bring their own musical style, expertise and influences to the event. 

The Ollie West Band & String Quartet

The Ollie West Band creates new genre, blending pop/fusion recognised by the likes of Bill Laurance and Dean Friedman. 

For their wall2wall performance they are complete with their regular string quartet, promising.

Africa Entsha

Africa Entsha is a smart, slick a cappella group that reached a global audience in 2010 performing at the World Cup opening ceremony.

Ian Shaw was awarded ‘Best Jazz Vocalist’ at both the 2004 and 2007 BBC Jazz Awards.  He was also nominated in the Best UK Vocalist category at the 2013 JazzFN awards.

For tonight’s performance he teams up with the in-demand pianist Barry Green.

Gilad Atzmon Orient House Ensemble

Gilad Atzmon is one of our best known multi-instrumentalist, who appears equally at home on saxophones, clarinet and ethnic woodwind instruments.

In 2000, Gilad Atzmon founded the Orient House Ensemble. 

Shez Raja Collective

Virtuoso electric bass player Shez Raja and his world-class band will be performing their unique brand of powerhouse Indo-jazz funk. 

The Collective’s live show is an eclectic headcharge of raw energy and always leaves audiences uplifted, inspired and asking for more.

 

Boogie Party With The Red Stripe Band

The 2016 Boogie Party was a huge success and there have been many requests for it to be retained, so, again at the Market Hall with the Red Stripe Band - it will bring the 2017 festival to a close.
Good food for those who wish to eat and a well stocked bar will make the evening complete.
