Greenham Voices - The Story of the Greenham Women

Rebecca is Artistic Director of feminist production hub Scary Little Girls, which she created after graduating Sheffield University and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and working as an actor, director, writer and producer.

As a child Rebecca visited Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp with her mother and was part of making history with 30,000 other women and children at the Embrace the Base action 40 years ago. In 2018 she started interviewing Greenham Women to celebrate their unique role in changing women’s roles nationally and internationally, and she hasn’t stopped since, turning the project into a standalone organisation: Greenham Women Everywhere!  GWE educates about and raises awareness of the actions and impact of the peace camp and is overseen by an advisory board of Greenham Women who actively plan the organisation's events.

In 2021 Rebecca was chosen to be part of the BBC Writers Room, wrote for the BBC's Archive on Four, Radio 4’s The UK Project and her first book was published, Out of the Darkness: Greenham Voices. She is a regular ‘rent-a-feminist’ talking head for TV and Radio, including You and Yours, 5 Live, Women’s Hour, and Sky News.

In this talk about her book and the process leading to it, Rebecca will bring along Greenham Women who contributed their stories, sing you some songs from the Greenham Song book and she and her guests will answer all your burning Greenham questions - go on ask them, we dare you!
