In a year when KISS were singing "I was made for loving you" and Racey were asking us to "Lay your love on me", I was listening to my favourite album - "Natty Dread". That year, my mum and dad did an amazing thing for me. On April 27th 1979, they took me to the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney to see Bob Marley and The Wailers. I still remember it vividly and still think about the fact that so many Bob Marley fans didn't get to see him live.
Fast forward a few years... I was playing in an afro funk/reggae band with some absolutely wonderful musicians. Every now and again, we would throw in a couple of Bob Marley songs and the crowd would go wild. The seed of an idea was born.
My name is Brendan and I am proud to present One Love - the music of Bob Marley and the Wailers. It's performed by a hugely talented group of friends with lots in common, the biggest being a mutual love of and respect for the music. The love of Bob Marley's music manages to transcend every potential barrier - race, colour, religion, age.
An eight piece band including backing vocalists and horns, and the fantastic Ras Roni Jemmott on lead vocals, One Love plays all the songs that you'd expect from a show like this plus a couple of more obscure ones for the die hard fans. Come and enjoy the music of Bob Marley and he Wailers with us.
“[Reggae] is the consciousness of the people coming together.” Robert Nesta Marley
