Mal Eastick is widely considered to be Australia's finest electric Blues guitarist, with a passionate, explosive and soulful style that has been featured with many leading International and Australian acts for over 40 years. He has played with the likes of Robert Cray, Los Lobos, Buddy Guy, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Johnnie Johnson, Joe Walsh, Junior Wells, Eric Burdon & The Animals, Tommy Emmanuel, Jimmy Barnes, Kevin Borich, and many more.
Mal’s early career was epitomised by his time with legendary band, The Stars, and his work on the Andy Durant Memorial concert and album. The Stars achieved significant national success during the mid to late 1970s and toured in support of such acts as Joe Cocker, Linda Ronstadt, and The Beach Boys. One of the bands many career highlights was being part of “The Concert of The Decade” on the steps of the Sydney Opera House to an estimated 120,000 people in 1979.
In the 1980s Mal played guitar in the Jimmy Barnes Band, featuring on Jimmy’s first two solo albums, ‘Bodyswerve” and ‘For The Working Class Man’. He also formed his own touring outfit, releasing two highly acclaimed albums, ‘Southern Line’ and ‘Spirit’.
In 2014 Mal and his band competed in and made the semi–finals of The International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA. A highlight of the trip saw them record at the legendary Sun Studios in the footsteps of Elvis and Johnny Cash.
