Round Mountain Girls

Following their timely return in the tail end of 2016 with the singles, “The Constant Rhythm”, “Meet You At The End”, and “Young And Able”, self-proclaimed pioneers of Celtabillyrootsgrassfolk, Round Mountain Girls have now finally returned with their long awaited fourth studio album, Meet You At The End.

Undoubtedly Meet You At The End is Round Mountain Girls’ most elaborate and daring release yet. Four years since their last recording session together, lots had changed for the band and each of its members. Sharing their individual songs they wrote over that time, they began to notice that their writing styles were now telling the tales of those they had met over the years, a revelation which gave birth to this progressive “story album”.
Meet You At The End tells the tale of a man had it all, lost it all, and goes on to find himself on that long road to recovery. Plagued by the past and wondering where his life went wrong, like many, his life takes an unexpected turn and due to his careless partying he finds himself in rehab craving a fresh start. With his thoughts planted on his family, love, and the time he carelessly squandered, his attempt to find happiness paves the way for his realisation to his own mortality.
True to their past works, the album oozes the signature Round Mountain Girls’ sound. Genre bending in every sense of the word, an array of instruments and styles play throughout the album, from frantic banjo and guitar riffs and snapping drums, to the sultry string lines and passionate vocal harmonies, it’s this diverse aptitude which make the change from dark, reminiscent, and hopeful narratives so relatable.
Recorded entirely in and around Byron Bay, primarily at the acclaimed Rocking Horse Studio and Pete Murray’s with engineer and co-producer Paul Pilsneniks (The Beards, The Living End), the band decided to take a different approach in their recording, dividing it over five studio sessions. This allowed them to ponder the music, and fine-tune each song without distraction like never before, creating a body of work which many would argue is their finest to date.
It’s been nearly a decade since the congregation of 40 something, part time musos got together in a shed on Round Mountain in the most northern part of NSW to play “a buncha old songs for a bit a fun”. Hundreds of shows later and the quintet have gone on to play some of Australia’s biggest stages at the nation’s biggest festivals, Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival, The Gympie Muster, and cement themselves as one of Australia’s premier alternative country rockers.

Praised for their incredible work ethic, forever on the road sharing their unmistakable live show; fans can rejoice that 2017 will be no different, with a range of national and international dates rolling out in the weeks to come.
