Hotbuckle up for Pride and Prejudice!

Popular Shropshire based Hotbuckle Productions are bringing their latest adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice to a theatre near you in the Summer of 2024.

After last year’s successful tour of ‘Sense and Sensibility’ Hotbuckle are back with their unique style of adaptations of classic novels. The virtuoso company have been entertaining audiences for over twelve years with their inventive interpretations of familiar texts. Previous productions have included, Great Expectations, Jane Eyre, Tess of the D’urbervilles, Wuthering Heights, David Copperfield and Les Miserables, as well as Austen’s Persuasion and Emma.

The company has opted to adapt Jane Austen’s most popular novel due to her enduring popularity. Despite having completed just six works during her time, she manages to command a legion of fans around the world. Her timeless stories have been turned into movies, television shows and stage in addition to being translated into multiple languages to cross cultural boundaries and today she remains as popular as ever. any literary figure in the history of the English language.
Artistic Director Adrian Preater commented ‘We’re really looking forward to sharing this latest adaptation with audiences. Austen is familiar to many and it’s important that we tell the story accurately, whilst adding an innovative twist. We always have fun in the rehearsal room, finding creative ways of bringing it alive through our simple stylised sets and drawing on aspects of the story which highlight our inventive approach’

Hotbuckle are renown for their fast -paced, multi-role playing adaptations which cross age and gender traditions, and their latest offering promises to keep true to their style. They will be touring throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland from April to July. Known for their adaptability to space and conditions, they will be performing outdoors whatever the weather, as well as in the smallest theatre in Scotland. Adrian added ‘We love the challenges that a tour offers and thrive on adapting to different stages, theatres and audiences’.

In their latest offering Hotbuckle invites us to enter the world of The Bennets. From the headstrong Elizabeth Bennet to the proud Mr Darcy, Hotbuckle’s rich characterisations abound in this latest adaptation by skilled writer Adrian Preater. Full of humour and invention, this is story-telling at its finest, as we meet five sisters who deal with marriage, morality and misconceptions in unique Hotbuckle style. This is Jane Austen as you’ve never experienced her before, so, get your tickets and Hotbuckle up, for the carriage ride of your life!
