Repton Choral Society presents Freedom! By Alexander L'Estrange
The Repton Choral Initiative is proud to present a performance of Alexander L'Estrange's 'Freedom!', featuring Repton Choral Society, Repton Chapel Choir and Repton Prep School's Boys' and Girls' Choirs, directed by Oliver Walker and Helen Winter. The choirs will be accompanied by Alexander's own jazz quintet Call Me Al.
Freedom is a popular choral work for adult chorus and children's choir. This powerful and emotive work celebrates the vital role communal singing has played throughout history, bringing people together in solidarity at times of upheaval, struggle and change. From Martin Luther King's civil rights movement and the suffragette marches to the spontaneous singing of soldiers in the trenches of WW1 and the non-violent Baltic 'singing revolution', singing has played a part in changing lives for good.
