Blood Wedding

THURSDAY 14 - SATURDAY 16 NOVEBER 2024 | 7:30PM

A wedding is set. A blood vow is broken. The vengeance of a village is unleashed…

Passions and traditions collide with unstoppable consequences as the mysteries of love and hate are explored against the backdrop of a community gearing up to unleash these elemental forces upon itself. What’s done cannot be undone.

Repton School invites you to the Michaelmas Term Drama production of Federico García Lorca’s explosive BLOOD WEDDING. Set amid sun-baked hillsides and sprawling rural planes, the play explores the unquenchable, forbidden passion that tears through the heart of a local couple’s impending marriage with ferocious consequences.

Riven with passion and hot blood, this is a tale that is both mysterious and elemental; spirited and human. Written by the author of The House of Bernarda Alba and Yerma, in the summer of 1932, Lorca’s original Blood Wedding foreshadowed the violence that would soon tear his beloved country apart, and lead to his own tragic end.
