Exhibition: Brushes Across Borders: Connecting Global Kids

Riverhouse Barn Community Art Project- Brushes Across Borders: Connecting Global Kids

At Heritage Festival 2023, Uuka Idi and Thalita Vaz set up a painting station on Bridge Street to collect children's ideas about their dreamed future world.
Children were asked about what they would like to see in their future, what they would dream for a better future, or how would make the future world a better place for us to live in. 80 paintings were collected at this one-day community event.

These paintings, together with children's artworks Uuka collected from the Kayole region in Kenya in 2018, and children living in the Amazon Forest region in Brazil in 2019, will be on display at the Robert Phillips Gallery.

Can we find any similarities and shared hopes for the future in Kenyan, Brazilian, and our children's impressions of the future world? What do we see regarding the future world through children’s perspective?

We invite you to come and be in the dream world the children created.  Artworks collected from Kenya, Brazil, and at the Riverhouse Barn's stall on Bridge Street at Walton Heritage Festival 2023 will be on display.  The art station will also be open for you to add your bit of imagination to our FUTURE!

Free to participate. All materials will be provided. Just drop-by!
