About the musicians:
Tim Hugh is the Principal Cello of the London Symphony Orchestra. Following his success at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, Tim enjoys an international career as a soloist. He has worked and recorded with many of the greatest conductors including Valery Gergiev, André Previn, Bernard Haitink, Mstislav Rostropovich, Yehudi Menuhin, Daniel Harding, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Andrew Davis, François-Xavier Roth, Myung-Whun Chung, and Yan Pascal Tortelier.
Born in Tasmania, Katerina began playing the violin and piano at a very early age and made her solo debut at age 11 with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, which was broadcast nationally on ABC Television. In 2012 she won Australia’s most prestigious music competition, the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards. Subsequently she has gone on to make her debuts with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra performing the Brahms Violin Concerto as well as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. As an active chamber musician Katerina has performed across Europe and Asia collaborating with such musicians as Roman Simovic, Sasha Zemtsov, Olga Sitkovetsky, Andrew Marriner, Dan Zhu, Olga Kern, Peter Manning and Tim Hugh.
Alison Rhind is recognised as one of the leading collaborative pianists specialising in repertoire for piano and strings. In 1994, she moved to the Yehudi Menuhin School where she worked for twelve years. During this period, she coached many young instrumentalists with whom she has since forged notable recital partnerships, including the exceptionally talented violinist Katarina Nazarova and principal cello for London Symphony Orchestra Tim Hugh.
